First Post; Elections 2009!

Have to start somewhere. Elections? Yes!

Elections are round the corner. Though there are no banners, buntings and wall paintings, the net is full of Elections articles! The wide range of issues discussed are interesting. Never before thoughts and information criss-crossed so much! All these won't go waste. For those, who think that 'things won't change', will be surprised to see how the information revolution can drastically change the way we live.

For a country like India, where the potential difference between sections and classes of the society is so high, the communication revolution is perforating the walls standing tall and strong, since ages. The flow across will upset the apple-cart and bound to create a new equilibrium. There are various possibilities. The majority stake holders (middle class?!) will have the balance in its favour, unless any particular class consciously makes an attempt to tilt it.

Now, who is going to make the attempt? Will the educated, committed crowd will take it up? Going by the articles in Praja, Churmuri and other blogs, one wonders why don't this class of people, who are less hypocrite, committed and dynamic doesn't get networked. The individuals stay so, or maximum get into groups which don't grow beyond 10 or 20. Will anyone think about making the group networked, strong and go beyond the net?

Let me stop here. Long articles are neither good for the writer nor the reader!

Are you by any chance the DC of Mysore? Because, I haven't heard about your blog till now. I very much agree with your point of networking and going beyond the net. Its a sustained process, which will surely require people who are ready to do the real work and not just those who write blogs or pass comments.

Dear Vishwas,

Your guess is right. I do work as DC, Mysore. I also agree with you that it is a sustained process, and requires people who are ready to do real work. But, i am sure that we have people ready to do real work.

Can't guess what is stopping them! Hoping to see a positive change in the society.

Dear sir,

When you say "... why don't this class of people, who are less hypocrite, committed and dynamic doesn't get networked.", I believe you're missing a small but significant point.

We are all quite vocal about our rights, duties and that of the public institutions, society, etc. Nevertheless we are constantly put off by the relative egos, differences in point-of-views, political and social affiliations amongst others.

There is nothing binding us all. No compelling reason to network!

I sure hope we can find a common cause to come together and play a more active role in society.

And of course, thanks for talking to us through the blog :-)
